basic wireless home network

Can someone please tell me what I need to buy to share my internet
access/files wirelessly on my office pc with my laptop.
I use an alcatel speedtouch USB ADSL modem (on the main pc), and currently
just use a crossover cable, but would love to be able to sit downstairs and
surf/check mail etc.

I have looked at the stuff on sale but am a little confused to say the
least. Any help very much appreciated, Mark
