Hello all,
Scenario: a pretty small LAN on my desk, one machine acts as a DHCP
server, the other is a simple Win98 client. The first machine is in
fact a Win2K machine with internet sharing enabled (192.168.0.xxx).
Problem: The Win 98 machine occasionally fails to acquire proper IP
upon startup (IPCONFIG returns local IP=0.0.0.0). My simple solution
so far is to restart the machine to requery the DHCP server.
Question: Is there another way other than restarting?
Cheers.

Dev

Start -> Run -> winipcfg
Select your network adapter, then click "release" and "renew".

Why not use a static IP?

Thank you all.
Silly me, I should've read the ipconfig help beforehand. :-)
Robert, I don't use static IP as I cannot control the DHCP.
Cheers all,

Dev
