my problem is this: i wish to block my son and his
computer from the network. when i put in a new wireless
security code, thus disabling his connecting, he simply
uses the setup disk that came with his wireless adapter,
and resets the entire base station with his own password,
thus disabling me, so i have to do the same thing. isn't
there some way to set it up so it can't be reset by
anyone who has this disk.

Dear Thirston,

The only way to block your obviously astute son is to
lock him out of the house. He is not reseting the
password from the disk. He is doing a hardware RESET
from the base station itself and then setting his own
password.

The only solution is to reconcile with your son and reach
an agreeement based on mutual trust and understanding -
if not love - or ship him off and out of the house. This
really isn't a broadband hardware issue...
