Bandwidth Throttling for a hotel network

Hi,

I've gone pretty thoroughly over this idea of setting up a wireless network
for a hotel. I know how I will secure it, how to set it up, I don't really
know what to charge,, we're talking about small hotels in small towns in
states of low population where this kind of service is not expected and
probably not provided by anyone in town 'yet'.

My main question for this forum is this; who knows of an effective bandwidth
throttling solution? One that perhaps has already been used for this same
purpose, I can't have the less moderate users stealing all of my bandwidth
from those who will use it more moderately. I'm using mandrake but without
preference, LNP might be my solution (?) I understand that Mandrake has
built in potential to throttle but with a buffer. It's too bad cable
providers don't offer ATM so that I could just have a VC for each user, that
would do it for sure..

Mandrake help pages talk about tcp window manipulation as a solution to
inbound traffic management only to say that nothing of the sort had yet been
implemented. Any news on this?

John

Couldn't you use the 'LIMIT' facility of iptables? Just have a look
into the manual.

Something they know absolutley nothing about, it appears. Maybe they should
follow their own advice and see the man page before posting such drivel.
