The lame bloke was actually partially right. Your ISP is only
granting you one IP address. It is not a "shared" IP address, but
only the first PC to log on to the ISP will get a valid address.
Your options are:
1: Add a 2nd NIC to one of the systems, and enable Internet
Connection Sharing to allow the other to access the Internet.
2: Call your ISP and pay for another IP address.
3: Scratch the switch and purchase a router, which would allow you to
continue working on a single IP address for both systems(best choice).
