That's because it's not a clear or complete description of the
problem. See below.

Well, if you have a warranty issue, you'll end up talking to them
anyway.

No way. I've played with these adapters and they do not get hot to
the touch. However, it may not be blown hardware as these require the
software in the computah to run the power managment. If the driver
goes insane, it might send the MA111v1 into some kind of strange mode
where it starts to overheat. In other words, the overheating may be a
side effect and not the cause.
Another possibility is that the USB port on your unspecified computah
might be gutless and unable to deliver enough power to the USB
adapter. Similarly, the MA111v1 may be sucking excessive power from
the USB port causing it to shut down. I use a butchered USB cable
that I use for measuring current.

Did you try letting it cool down a while and see if it recovers (while
leaving the computah turned on)? I think the MA111 is fried, but it
would be interesting to know if it's temperature related.

A fresh what? I assume you mean a different USB port and a different
MA111v1.

So, it works again after a reboot even when it's hot? If that's the
situation, it *MAY* not be the adapter. Your driver, operating
system, or laptop, may be inducing the problem by sending the USB
adapter into some strange mode. For starters, dive into the settings
for the MA111v1 and disable all "power management" features. If it
takes an hour, you might wanna check the computer's "power save"
features and temporarily disable them.

Air cooling a plastic case is not going to do much for cooling
whatever seems to be overheating inside.

Version number?

My best guess is that the MA111v1 is fried. However, the only way I
would know for sure that it's not the computah is to try the MA111 on
another machine.
