Hi there,

I'm with BT Broadband Basic and I was wondering if there is a ISP that
doesn't require you to "dial up" to use FTP for webspace?

Thanks.

why not use someone like oneandone.co.uk register a domain and use their
hosting. Not the cheapest, but they have HUGE connectivity.

Alternatively, register a PAYG account with BTO(y) you can access that,
and the smtp, pop3, and news servers from BTB.
(Not officially, and it's not supported. But it does work.)

They do like you to dial in every so often, can't remember how often, but
since I've had BB I've not dialled in and that's over a year!, and my
account is still active.

The T&Cs for PAYG says something about must use the service (ie. dialup) at
least once every 90 days, or it will be terminated. It also mentions that
they'll warn you (by email, I presume) two weeks beforehand.

So, I'm awaiting my email before I dig out my analogue modem!!
Hope I'm waiting as long as you.
