I am a wi-fi newby

My ipap5550 connects to home AP and I use WEP. Connection allows
email, internet and to shared LAN folders.

Settings:

Networks to access:

Only access points

[ ] Automatically connect to non-preferred networks *

This is not ticked.

questions:

(2) I want to try to connect to WAP outside my home e.g. Starbucks.
Do I need to change any settings?

(3) How do AP show up and identify themselves?

(6) If I had ticked * (above) would this be sufficient?

(5) Is there a security risk in "accepting" a connection?
