Avoiding multiple dangling filters

Just got (2Mb) broadband going with Freeserve/Wandadoo. So far so good
(and CallerID still OK too).

I believe I am correct in thinking that I need to put a splitter on
every phone socket in the house where there is a phone-like device
plugged in (3 other phones).

If this is the case, would it be not be better to employ one of those
master socket face plate arrangements (e.g. clarity
http://www.clarity.it/telecoms/adsl_faceplate.htm et al e.g. solwise).
If so, who is the best.

Am I required to get BT to do the job if it's on the master socket
(which seems like the best place)

TIA

Allan

thoey are a better solution. Clarity, ADSLnation.

nope, if you have an NTE5 with detachable lower half you can replace
that yourself, as the clarity site explains. Its the only place to put
a centralised filter.

If you can insert a signle filter in the line before *ALL* the phones,
you`ll only need one filter to do the lot. Just another option you could
take....That's how I do it, and its worked great for a couple of years.

I've just bought an adslnation XF-1e in-line filter which is supposed to be
OK for 3 extensions. It's easily the best filter I've tried as well,
totally removing the phone noises and distortion I've been suffering from
since going from 512k to 2Mb. Miles better than a genuine BT adsl faceplate
and several no-name microfilters I've tried plus a US Robotics one.

The XTE-2005 has the same filter inside a BT NTE-5 compatible Faceplate
if you prefer a faceplate over an in-line filter.
