Do NOT be lured in by what seems like a bargain. I can tell you from
sad experience that ANY provider would give you more efficient service
than the incompetents at talktalk.

The service is so bad that my wife and I are going to cancel our mobile
phone accounts that go through the Carphone Warehouse, which is a
related company.

Don't say you haven't been warned. To "save" what you hope will be a
few pounds a month, you will suffer 10x that in agro.

I gave the same warning awhile ago.

Their phone service is fine, and I recommend them there, their broadband is at
best appalling.

I advised to avoid too!

Though I'd say there is no point in cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Maybe you are, no sooner had I made my post then today a letter comes
from them saying I owe them £26.89, strange I think so I check with
the bank and all payments to them are as per the dates usually paid
and the correct amount. I phone them, they have no idea what it's for
or why it was taken from my account then sent back. Seems it was
returned to my account due to a fault with their DD information.

The dates do not match any of my normal payment dates and is for a
strange amount. They say the computer shows a debt of £23.38 but they
can't say what it's for. The letter says £26.89

The finance office said contact CS

I can't get through to CS yet

I've just signed up with em, a few days ago.
How are you finding the service for speed and drop-offs Norman?
Oh BTW.
I don't think there is an broadband ISP with all satisfied customers, if all
my recent research is anything to go by.
They're all going through a boom time now, rushed off their little feet and
too busy to sort out problems.
Things should maybe ease off a bit this year ;-)
Harry.

I *knew* I was tempting fate! I set up a few torrents to download when I
went out tonight, must have disconnected sometime in the early evening. To
be honest disconnects are not too uncommon it has to be said, if you like to
download when your not around the pc then maybe you should look elsewhere.
Speeds are generally ok, no evidence of "throttling" here as some have
reported. For the cost its ok and the missus is happy with the free evening
and weekend calls too!

Every 5 hours, to rotate the DHCP addresses.

Really? So much for always on Broadband then! Mind you the cut offs seem
more random for me. I will keep an eye on that. Thanks.

It's not a significant issue - I lose MNS and I see the network drop, 30
seconds later the router renews, and 30 seconds after that MSN
reconnects.
