I have been on the old Pipex Solo 1000 deal for a very long time.
That's the unlimited downloads thing that costs 23.44 a month.
Will I be automatically changed to ADSL Max?

Probably... eventually. I remember reading it was due to a problem with the
BT bulk update tool which has now been fixed but there is a cost
implication if the ISP uses it, so they wait for people to ask and do it
one at a time.

I was in the same situation, rang them last week and it activated last
night. Costs £24.99 a month, you need to commit to another 12 months with
them.

Best ring them if you want it anytime soonish.

Are you sure you want it ?

Some people on the ADSL Guide Pipex forum appear to have been recently
switched to Max without their consent, and worse still this might lock them
into another 12 month contract.

Do they ever answer the phone though, my daughter recently was kept
hanging on till around 615pm on a Saturday afternoon, web page says
support closes at 6pm so the phone ** may ** have been ringing in an empty
office.

Needless to say she gave up.

Somewhere on the web it says they're open till 8pm but it's actually 10pm.
I did leave the phone for an hour ringing without any joy during the day -
I expect something mis-routed and I was hanging on a dead line. Eventually
rang about 6pm and got through after ten mins or so (the tape warned the
waiting time was at least ten mins).

It's not brilliant but the service has been pretty rock solid, it's a local
call not premium, they're in the UK and know what they're talking about
when you get through.

The whole process took a few minutes and a couple of days later it
activated (though still training so a higher speed PVC but the same
throughput it seems).
