I am in the process of moving from a Netware server to one running
Server 2003. Yesterday I started copying the contents of a Netware
volume to a shared folder on the new server. I kept the file structure
the same so that I could simply change the drive mapping in the login
script thereby not breaking any shortcuts on the clients. In an
attempt to insure the Netware source would no longer be used I renamed
each folder as I moved it adding "_moved" to the end of each folder
name. This hasn't worked out exactly as I had planned. The XP Pro
clients are automagically mapping Z: to the Netware volume. Worse
though is that even though H: has been remapped to the new server, XP
is changing shortcuts from H: to Z: and including the "_moved" to the
folder name in the target. Once I dismount this volume I'll have a
bunch of bad shortcuts (remember my plan was not to have any). Can
anyone tell my why this is happening and how I can prevent it on
clients that haven't logged in yet?
I'm running Server 2003 Standard Edition with roles as FS, PS, DC
w/AD, DNS. Clients are XP Pro SP2.
