I bought a Linksys Router / 4 port switch, and have been having really
annoying timeouts where it would drop the internet connection. Having
contacted Linksys support and doing allsorts, I finally upgraded the
firmware, and the router has been spot on since.

I did try to upgrade the firmware at first, but it said it was an invalid
file. The key is to download the firmware from the UK part of the Linksys
site, not the USA part.

Hope this helps some people - I seem to remember seeing some posts from
people suffering from the same problems as me.

Matt

Ah but which router do you have? If it is the BEFSR41 then the firmware on
the UK site is for the version three unit where as mine is the version 2!

I find the whole thing with linksys and hardwarw/firmware/US site/ UK site a
mess.

At the moment I am running firmware 1.45.7 but look like I will revert to
1.44.2 as I get occasional lock-up with the newer firmware.

Regards,

Paul

It is the BEFSR41, but ive no idea which version it is. The firmware I used
is the only one that has actually worked out of the ones i have tried. It
seems to have worked a treat now too! The router setup indicates its version
1.04.17.
