Greetings,

I have been asked to connect a Mac to a Server 2003 network.
I am new to Mac and I was hoping that one of you could point me to the right
place for some much needed information.

Basically I want to make it a client that can access resources on the server.
Already created the user in AD and the Mac has been able to license a IP
from the server.
I have enabled SMB/CIFS on the MAc as well as AD and Windows sharing.
But when I map to the Mac with \\192.168.2.10\Mac_name it asks for log on
credentials. The strange thing is I have tried both the AD login and the Mac
login to no avail??
I can successfully ping the from Mac to Server and Server to Mac

Brand new Server 2003 Dual 3.0 1GB RAM 200 Raid 5
1 G4 Power Mac

Any help is MUCH appreciated. These Macs are foreign objects!
Even an FAQ would be helpful. I found one on Peer to peer but not networking
with Ad...even google is a cow on this one.

Liam

On Mac OS make sure Finder is the selected app, then select "Go" -> "connect
to server" and enter the following as the server address:

smb://<servername>/share

note: <ServerName> should be full FQDN "example: server.domain.local"

Thank you Todd,

I did that and still had some difficulties. Specifically it would ask for
login credentials and then say the bad password etc.
So I went to the folder that I was sharing: C:/temp and I right clicked it
and went to Security and Sharing. There is a button there named: "new Share".
SO I again explicitly gave the user permission.
Reconnected through the Applications->Network->Domain_Name it asked for
credentials and worked.
Weird!

Now I am looking to see if there is a way to Map the drive from the Mac to
the Server2003.
Whenever I logout, the network share needs to be re-mapped.
