Atmel USB WLAN - Migration to Berlios Driver?

A bit slow on the uptake, I've discovered that SUSE 9 contains the
alternative Atmel driver from http://at76c503a.berlios.de. I've been
using the original driver from SourceForge, which works, but only some of
the time. I have a Belkin F5D6050 USB adaptor (0x0d5c/0xa002)

Are there any issues installing the alternative driver "over the top of"
the existing installation (from source)?

If I have to remove the original driver, are there any instructions to do
this?

Any known issues with the SuSE RPM package?

Many thanks in advance.
