Ok, I've got a Belkin wireless pcmcia card and I've setup the
atmelwlan driver from sourceforge. It works just fine if I manually
configure everything, including going into a console, running lvnet,
and setting up WEP and attaching to my access point. At that point,
'iwconfig' reports that atml0 has all the relevant information, and
'ifconfig' tells me that I have an atml0 device (but no IP). I do an
ifdown / ifup on atml0, and I have an IP from my DHCP server and I'm
good to go.
Now, the problem. I don't want to do that all manually. But when I
fire up my machine, the atml0 device is not always recognized. If I
do an /etc/init.d/pcmcia restart, it shows up -- but now the
encryption is gone (according to iwconfig).
One problem seems to be the device not being recognized unless I
restart pcmcia.
Could the restart be re-initializing the card's configuration, or
something?
Second question, where is lvnet storing the data that I'm putting in?
It seems ridiculous to manually enter my wep key everytime. If that
file's getting overwritten I'd rather at least back that file up.
