Hello,
My question is about connecting to a wireless
Access Point from a Linux Machine:
Is it a must to be in the same channel as which the Access Point
operates in,
in order to associate and authenticate successfully to an access
point?

Rgs,
Mark

The channel number is for when the device is being used as a master.
Neighbouring masters should have different channel numbers.

The channel number of a client does not matter. The computer will
connect to the access point with the strongest signal, and associate and
authenticate with that access point, as required.

Mark.

Well... not necessarily. You can specify a particular channel and/or
ESSID, and if you do they must match. In the common case, though, (in
which you don't specify these things) Mark is correct.
