Here, GNU/Linux experienced user but newbie about ADSL modems.

If one wish to choose an ADSL modem with security in mind... a router
one (with NAT) the less features the modem offers the better isfor security ?

Imagine that one hack into de modem itself, as the admin.

Imagine that behind the modem is a hub that spits the bandwidth
toseveral desktops.

The modem do not route inbound traffick, hand shakes that start outsideare
totally ignored by the modem...

What the intruder could do to harm the LAN from the modem ?

NAT routers have an EPROM that is upgraded. There are various settings to
block or open specific ports for access in.

See the documentation for details... try http://www.linksys.com as example.
