Virgin Media customers have been left without TV, Internet and Video
on-demand services after a suspected arson attack knocked out power to
60,000 homes in Manchester city centre, Salford, Bury and Wigan last night.
Power was completely restored by 9pm, and most users were restored cable
service by 2am.

Doesn't Vigin use standby generators at its larger sites?

One big problem, even if they do have a back up generator at the
exchange just how is that going to help with all the remote cabs which
still require power & only have a limited battery back up. You are
failing to realise this.

60,000 homes?......are Virgin supplying the electric through their fibre to
run the homes?

What use is it, if they get broadband up and running, but NO homes have
electric anyway?

I repeat somebody eles question. What has this got to do with Virgin?

Neil

There's never been any backup in Birmingham (this includes the phones),
don't know about other VM areas.
