I replaced my old Microsoft MN700 with a new D-Link (DI-524) wireless G
router, set up the basement computer with the accompanying USB device and
immediately gained net access. No problem. But I have been having a horrible
time with the network setup wizard – something I’ve done several times before.
The issue is, on my host computer, I try and select option 1 “This computer
connects directly to the internet” but I continuously get an error message:
“Other computers cannot connect to the internet through this computer.”
I’ve done some research – tcp/ip properties are set to obtain ip address
automatically, as my isp requires, I see nowhere to turn off Internet
Connection Sharing, as some tutorials have suggested, all the workplace names
(tried several) were in sync but I still cannot establish the host computer
as, well, the host computer.
