As I stated in my summary line I was wondering of these
classic search engines still exist and are in use? Where could I get
the software to run them on my Linux hardware? that is the actual
diggers and parsers. I have several Linux boxen which are bored. one
only is doing Settathome right now. the other is powered down as it
has no work to do.
Now before you or anyone say "Crufty software." I am just
learning all of this. I know how to use even the telnet archie system
and I would like to do my own "spidering" including my own ftp
downloads directories.
If you know where I can find the actual search engine software
and documentation I would appreciate it.
