A while back, I picked up a pair of USR 2249 APs for "future use" and
ended up placing them in service as an AP and a client-mode AP bridge
(i.e. one is acting as an AP serving multiple clients, one is a client
of that AP bridging a device with wired Ethernet and no wireless
capability); the 2249 is no longer widely available and I'm looking
for other devices with similar functionality. I know I could get some
wireless game adapters, but those tend to be pricey and wouldn't be as
flexible (i.e. I couldn't retask them as actual APs in the event that
made more sense at a later date). I'm having some trouble trying to
figure out which devices support this kind of client mode, as it seems
to be mentioned buried in tech sheets if at all.
First, does anyone know of a web resource that would let me review a
list of devices that support this?
If not, do you have any recommendations on currently-available devices
that support client mode?
Thanks,
Kevin Broderick
