Hi kinte!
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "standard" Appletalk, but Windows 2000
and 2003 support AFP 2.2, which is probably what you're more interested in
if you're concerned about file services.
Current versions of Mac OS X support AFP 3.x, which allows for long file
names (over 31 characters).
