I hope that this is the appropriate forum for this question - new to
Apache & Linux & can't find the answer to this one.

I have two machines on a wireless network at home, using a D-Link router.

One is running XP Pro, one running FC3. Apache is running on both (but not
at the same time).

On either machine I can start Apache & see http://localhost/ but if I try
to use http:// & the IP address of the machine then only the XP version
works! Apache on fc3 returns, "The connection was refused when attempting
to contact 192.168.0.101".

Any help with this would be much appreciated - I've looked for answers but
so far found nothing...

Many thanks,
Andy

Probably because "localhost" resolve to 127.0.0.1 so trought the loopback
device, while 192.168.0.101 is caught by the firewall.

Thanks for the quick reply...

At the risk of sounding very green now... the firewall on the router
doesn't appear to be the issue, but not sure about on the local machine.
Does fc3 have a firewall installed as standard?

Latest:

I disabled the firewall through the fc3 'security level' app but still
have the same problem. Any ideas welcome!

Thanks,
Andy

Sorted...

Downloaded Firestarter, updated policies to allow http on port 80 and
all's fine - no idea why the other method I tried didn't work, but it
seems to be fine now.
