One of AOL's FAQs suggests that their Silver package doesn't support
networks, whereas their Gold and Platinum offerings do - is that true?

TIA

You can use a router (so it does support networks) for AOL's silver service
but they wont support you if you have problems

Andrew

PS I'm not with them myself, a friend is .... i found their support
personel that
i spoke to be completely useless very much like BTYahoo support muppets in
India

No it actually means they don't give network support on the silver service.
You only get that with Gold or Platinum. You can still use a network on
Silver but you won't get any support if you need to ring them.
