*not for me - hold the flames* ;-)

Just been asked if AOL can provide broadband on a non-BT line, and I
thought I spotted something recently about them having an arrangement
with cable companies to use their lines for an "equivalent" service over
cable.

Have I lost the plot completely ?

No - I have seen comments that one can order AOL Broadband on ntl: cable
for ~£27.99/month. Basic ntl: broadband Internet at 600K is £24.99 so
a user would have to consider the AOL "extras" to be be worth paying for!

You need an NTL cable service, and even then it cant be done in every ntl
area - it is subject to availability. I believe that you CANNOT do it with
any other cable company

If it's NTL, then why not look to them for the BB service ?

They`re in a telewest area - I think they have a telewest phone line, but
they`re being told they can`t have broadband for some reason.

Can`t see why, they`re in the middle of a city with a lot of telewest
broadband users.

It might sound a stupid question, but they are asking Blueyonder for their
BB aren't they ???

No other provider, TTBOMK, can provide BB over a TW cable telephone
service.
