Hello

I am a complete novice so please be gentle

I am having problems viewing web pages via the above router. I can
surf the net fine using the standard BT Broadband Modem (which I am
using to make this post) but I cannot view web pages when I try to
connect with the router (after removing the broadband modem of
course). I am currently using a wired connection via an IBM Ethernet
Card - I will be going wireles later once I get over this initial
hurdle.

I have run through the "Quick ISP Setting", using the AOL selection,
and got a "Congratulations, Connection Successfull!" message. I assume
that I am now connected to the Internet? The problem is, when I open
Internet Explorer and type www.hotmail.com, I get a "cannot find
search page error".

- Am I indeed connected to the Internet when this happens?

- Should I have AOL open to connect or does the router software take
care of connection for me? I have tried both methods i.e. AOL open and
not.

- Do I need to update Internet Options in Internet Explorer or
something to actually view web pages?

- Is there anything else I should be doing to use AOL via this router?

Can someone please please help.

Col.

Have you configured router correctly,

Username & password - User name is your screen name entered with no spaces,
i.e If screen name is Fred at Home, then enter (E-Mail Removed)
AOL recommend creating a new screen name for this and must have 18+ access.
Pasword must be no more than 8 characters.

AOL also use a MTU value of 1400, VCI 38, PPOA.

Also check connection is using network connection, From Internet explorer,
Tools - internet options - connection tab.

I choose "Never dial a connection".

Should now work

Thanks for the information - I am going to try this out as soon as I
get home from work

Can you tell me if you need to have AOL running to be able to surf the
net or is a connection via the router alone all that is required i.e.
can I connect via the router and just open IE and browse the web?

Sorry for the dumb questions - I am a newbie

Thanks again.

Col.
