Anyone Using 'Twintalk'?

Could anyone advise me on this please? I very much doubt if I would get
anywhere with BT Sales! ....

BT sell a system called 'Twintalk' which allows incoming calls to ring
different phones - it does this working in conjunction with BT's 'Call
Sign' facility (providing, on a single line, a second telephone number with
a distinctive ring).

Is anyone using this on a line that also has Broadband? And, if so, any
problems?

Also - BT's 'blurb' talks about having 2 phones on the single line: But I
wonder
if that's right - i.e. couldn't you in fact have several phones? I would
like to have several, arranged in 2 groups - and to exceed the usual max
REN value of 4 (on the basis that, for any individual incoming call, ringing
current is only going to be sent to the phones in one of the 2 groups.

I would be very grateful if someone can help ....

Cheers,
John

I am using a Call Sign switch on an ADSL line and it works fine - its not a
TwinTalk device but that will be the same..

You can have several phones but you can't exceed the total combined REN
value of 4*

See http://www.twintalkhelp.com/ - specifically
http://www.twintalkhelp.com/tt_support_faq.htm#8 which appears to address
this.

*Note: most phones which come marked as having a REN of 1 actually have
less - so you may "get away" with actually attaching more phones on the
circuit but no promises.

Sunil

Yes I use it, and it works fine. Twintalk has 2 boxes one for each
number, hence the two phones. There is nothing to stop you connecting a
2 way adaptor in to the TwinTalk box to run 2 phones on it. If however
you need phones in other rooms you can simply buy more Twintalk boxes.
Each box can be set to ring on either number.

There is no problem with ADSL providing you have decent filters.

I've got Call Sign and no switch, do you have any URL's of places that
sell cheap Call Sign switches?

http://www.cix.co.uk/~lineplex/cs200.htm

Not sure if you class £99+VAT as cheap.

Quite. The "contact 4" at
http://www.crucible-technologies.com...ne-systems.asp is £10
cheaper ex VAT and has a bit more functionality.

there was a simple Callsign switch before Twintalk appeared, I think
it was ahead of the market and didn't sell, some people got them cheap
when The Link or similar sold off their stock. Twintalk has battery
power, the original was line powered I think.

As Phil says there were some good value ones available a couple of years ago
which also came bundled with 3 months worth of Network Services from places
like the Link/Dixon's and BT shops.

However, they discontinued the range - though its still sometimes possible
to pick one up - I got one in the middle of last year from a 02 shop (ex BT
store etc) for under £5.

If you google uk.telecom for "telcom 650" (the model number) you will find
discussions of where they may have been in stock(some shop in the South
West?) but whether they still have them is another thing..

Regards
Sunil

Both Lineplex and Contact 4 switches are too expensive for me.
