Well the suject says it really...I am looking to move from Demon having had
my ADSL nearly 2 years. Demon just dont provide the features I need
anymore. Anyway what I want to know is has anyone sucessfully migrated from
Demon to another ISP? How difficult was it to get the CBUK number etc from
them?

BTW I dont want to hear horror stories about their accounts dept - I know
all about that:-))

Interesting..... I was thinking of migrating TO them! What "features" do
they not have?

That was easy just phoned their customer support number, got the CBUK
number. Account was migrated to another ISP without a hitch.

Took accounts department 3 months to catch up, lots of hassle. But
then as you say, you already know how bad their accounts department
are!

Only 20Mb web space, no cgi other than their two, no real web stats, only
pure POP3 for ADSL no SMTP also no separate mailboxes, parking a domain
costs extra, recently unreliable news & mail also. Its the webspace and cgi
mainly which I can get from other ISPs for the same price!

Why dont you just "upgrade" you webhosting to someone who can supply you
cheap space, you will then be able to host your own webserver at home, using
smtp, get webstats, your own domain name.

Don't blame the ISP as webhosting is not what there in buisness for, they
supply your ADSL connection, you may find another supplier worse for the
connection.

I can give you 1 months free webhosting, 500mb, sql DB's, SMTP, Cpanel etc,
see how you get on, if you like it then stay with demon, if you dont then
move suppliers. and don't pay me a penny

I would reccomend buying your own domain name, its like having your own reg
on your car, then you can change suppliers at will and not worry about email
address's

well perhaps you mean something different... - but I've usually found
demon's technical and 'abuse' side fine to deal with (and I'm really
into ID abuse at present - I appear to be selling Vi.Agr4 over 5
continents at present :-( )

I moved house recently, and that seemed a good time to change main
connectivity provider. I now use AAISP for ADSL, happily, yet still
retain a TAM Demon account for the moment.

Migration should be no problem with AAISP, just give them a call during
<cough, spit, I hate the term> office hours.

Others report very sensible economies using Metronet (for connectivity
only) and Gradwell (for everything else).
