Anyone use UK Online as their ISP? I'm considering moving to them as
they are one of only two ISP's in my area who offer ADSL2 on my
exchange. I'm having major problems with my current ISP as they are
passing my support call between themselves and BT and it's not moving
forward. My connection has been down for 3 weeks and thought that
changing to a LLU on ADSL2 may help.

Any bad or good experience with them?

Saw that Sky/Easynet owns it. Well sky have a pretty good rep at the
moment for broadband. Was going to go for UK Online as I don't have
sky at all and would need to pay £130 for box and set up.

Seems pretty good going by this review, which also made today's Metro
freebie newspaper in London.
<http://www.broadband-expert.co.uk/uk_online-broadband/>

I had a couple of friends use it in 2005. One couldn't get setup at all
(the line never got activated on time so she* cancelled and went to
AOL...) and the other has a Netgear DG632 which too occasionally needs
restarting, and UK-Online at that time were only recommending their own
router.

* - AOL is the default choice of the non-technically minded. I wonder if
they have the most number of UK female users?

I've used them for almost 10 years now, originally as a dial-up, and
never had major problems. On the rare occasions I had to call tech
support I always got a friendly intelligent response.
Since switching to the broadband service I'm still happy -- they simply
seem to get on with the job.
Shameless, I know, but if you do sign up with UKOL please quote my
username ("sim", not "coz" as above) and we both receive a free month.

Think he means UKonline, who are owned by Sky/Easynet or whatever you
wan to call them.

Take it you have had bad experience with sky? I know several people
who have signed up to sky bband and everything went smoothly and each
person got good connection speeds.
