Hi all,

I have 2 sites I want to connect via a VPN:

Site 1: Two win98 boxes connected to the Internet on a 512K adsl line
through a Dlink 504 router/modem.

Site2: Two XP boxes connected to the Internet on a 512K adsl line through a
Dlink 604 wireless router/modem.

Things I have found out:
* Win98 can be configured as a VPN client only.
* XP can be configured as a VPN client or server.
* Both the Dlink 504 and 604 only support VPN pass through (though I don't
know what the significance of this is).

Question
1) Has anyone here set up a VPN between this or similar Dlink kit and if so
how did you do it?

Cheers

Paul.

The DLINK 504 will only work in pass through mode..

This opens the relevant ports on the router to allow VPN traffic in and
out..

You will need to set one of your XP Machines as a VPN Server on Site 2,
then use the VPN client from Site 1 to connect to it..

I have this set in our office and it works fine...

Regards
