Hi All,

I was recently given what I think is a Puretek PT 3806 ADSL modem (I
think it might be an older (2M) model) ADSL 'modem'. (It looks like
this).

http://www.ciao.co.uk/Puretek_PT_3806__5436182

I think I have downloaded the right drivers for it (found ok under XP
Home) but I didn't seem to get a connection app?

I tried it today on a mates ADSL line and created a connection that
came up in the 'Broadband' section on XP. I added the username and
password and tried to connect but nothing seemed to happen (no Data or
ADSL leds etc).

I then replaced it for Alcatel Smart touch (Singray or whetever it was
called) ADSL modem and again downloaded the driver / app from their
site. I was able to add username, password and number to their
connection app (though the number didn't matter) and it connected
first time?

Any other tips re ADSL ( have connected a couple but I'm more familiar
with Cable) please?

All the best ..

T i m

p.s. they have a 1M service on a BT line.

Hi Clint and thanks for that ..

I believe I have both the 'driver' and manual but didn't seem to get
the dialler app? It could be that you simply make one under XP's "New
connection" type wizard but I can't seem to find one where you can add
a phone number without it picking up the internal modem?

I don't think it needs the number though the paperwork for the service
suggests you ender a bogus one in for the Stingray ADSL modem ..? (but
that comes with it's own 'dialler' app?)

I'll have a better look through the manual and see what it says .. ;-)

All the best ..
