Hi Folks,

Picked up a Sky badged broadband router without PSU at a car boot today.
Cost me all of 3 quid

I briefly connected it up to a 12V PSU and was pleasantly surprised to see
signs of life. I connected to it using a laptop and correctly guessed the
admin password as sky

The splash screen suggests that it is a rebadged Netgear DG834GT which isn't
that bad a bit of kit. It has a number of Sky specific settings in as
defaults.

Ever the adventurous one, I downloaded the latest firmware for the DG834GT
from Netgear and attempted to flash it, but it stuck the finger up at me

So has anyone managed to flash this router with standard firmware and/or use
it with other ISPs?

yes, have, it was quite easy to do.. If you have a look at skyuser.co.uk
there are a few guides on there. Hope it helps.

There's a version conflict with a straight flash. Use the netgear
"recovery utility" and follow the instructions - worked first time for
me (after I tried and failed a flash as you did).

When I got my Sky router the first thing I did was flash it so that I could
use it with my existing ISP at the time - worked a treat.

The Sky User site as another person has linked you to has a guide, it's dead
simple.

Is that 15V at 1A? I thought the standard Netgear DG834T took a 12V 1A PSU?
