Anyone advise on configuring router for games please?

I've got a Netgear DG824M connected to BTOpenworld ADSL.
I'm trying to play an on-line game, Medal Of Honor, with me and another PC
on my LAN connecting to the same Medal Of Honor server. When either one of
us connects to a server (without the other one) it works fine but as soon as
the second PC tries to join the game the connection is lost for the first PC

I'm assuming this is a router setup issue, right? Can anyone advise me what
changes I might need to make?

Thanks a lot.

If your doing some kind of port forwarding of ports to a machine or
machines, it is not going to work for more than one machine, because using
port forwarding is only for one IP/machine to use the port(s) exclusively.

Port Triggering on a router is how you share the same ports needed by more
than one machine. Use Google to find out how to do it, or maybe there Tech
Support Knowledge Base for the router.

I guess this what you're talking about.

Yep that sounds like what I need, I'll do some research into triggering,
thanks a lot Duane

Thanks Jim. That certainly sounds like it's worth a try, unfortunately I
can't make out from your description where I need to make this change. I
can't see anything related to changing the default port numbers on that page
you linked to either. I must be going blind or something!

check your game docs.

When Playing Half-Life or Team Fortress behind a Linksys NAT router, we had
to have each pc chage the icon properties and use a different port...other
wise the NAT router gets confues when 2 PC's are using the same game port.

The router doesn't get confused if using Port Triggering. That is what Port
Trigging is for to have multiple machines share the same ports.
