Any WPA success stories out there?

I've had my wireless setup running for a few weeks now and am pretty
much impressed with its usefulness / potential possibilities.
However, the widely advertised flaws in WEP-based security make me
slightly nervous but my experimentation with WPA-based solutions so
far has been anything but painless.
I'm using a Netgear WGR614 Wireless 802.11g 54 Mbps Router (version
1)and wirelessly connect to this using my laptop.
Everything's 'sweet as' when using WEP but as soon as I attempt to
connect using WPA, the problems start.
I can manage to connect at times but the connection is soon dropped
and can only be re-established after power cycling the router.

I've tried the connection using both my inbuilt Intel(R) PRO/Wireless
LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter and a Belkin 54G wireless notebook
network card but the problems persist whichever piece of hardware I
use, and regardless of whether or not I use XP's wireless
configuration utility or those provided with the respective cards.

Admittedly, the WGR614's firmware i'm using to incorporate WPA (v2.03)
is only a beta version but, seeing as this is a year old already, I'm
beginning to lose hope that the problems inherent in this patch will
be addressed soon, if ever.
consequently, I've decided that it may be best if I shopped around for
another router altogether.
However, a quick search of the newsgroups for different wireless
router / AP devices and WPA, returns lots of posts complaining about
the same sort of incompatibilities / problems I'm having.
In short, then, is anyone out there using WPA with any sort of success
and, if so, what hardware are you using to accomplish this?

As I said, I like the idea of using WPA and would be grateful if
anyone could let me know of any good devices that utilise this new
standard.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have to offer.
Cheers.

I'm using a Dell notebook based on the Centrino brand package including the
same wireless adapter as yours.

My router is a WRT54G from Linksys and had problems with WPA-PSK/TKIP until
Linksys updated their firmware. Once I updated the firmware it worked
perfectly.

It always worked fine in WEP.

good luck

Hi Jim.
Thanks for the reply and the info contained therein.
Glad to hear that you're having some luck with the Linksys router and
WPA in a similar setup to mine.
I've heard a lot of good things about that router so I reckon i'll
grab one of those and run that instead of my Netgear.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Cheers.
