Having looked at the Telewest website, it seems there is no way to
be able to have a TV/radio service without a telephone service.

The cable connection is already set up. But the person concerned wishes
to drop the Internet part (which has in any case not been used in six
months) and telephone service (there is also another line from a
separate provider and the cable one is no longer needed.

Alternatively it would be acceptable to switch the phone number from the
other provider (Post Office) to the cable line, but apparently this
would involve an interim switch back to BT which seems odd to say the
least.

Any suggestions welcome.

Axel

Yes you can have TV on it's own, I think it has to be the Supreme
package at around £20 per month, it's only available by phoning customer
services. Having said that, if they cancel the internet and phone then
they will automatically go onto TV only.

In regards to taking the TW phone number to BT, give BT a call on 0808
100 5152, that number goes through to the options team who deal with
number porting from other providers. If they can take the number to BT
then tell them not to cancel the phone with TW, BT will have to do that
for them.

Yikes! 20 quid a month!

That is still much for the person concerned who only wants the TV and
more importantly, the Archers on Radio 4.

Thnaks for the advice, but it would involve taking the Post Office line
to BT and then to Telewest... trivial for you or me to do it... but not
for an elderly person unfortunately.

I am tempted to say cancel everything... which I would do really would
like to see an alternative (yes the person does have radios in the
house... just not very able to tune them).

perhaps there might be some scope for getting a modest priced (second hand)
radio with a few presets (most of the shortwave sets have from 5 to 10, and
more costly one have many more) whether one looks at Roberts, Sangean or
Sony, or some other, or something cheap with DAB and a remote control
over both volume and station... but could need some help setting up!

Well one call to BT should sort that.

Well, before you advise that I'd suggest that they have a chat with
customer care to see what the options available to them are - 150 from
a Telewest line.

I have the starter TV package free with my reduced cost broadband, I got
TW to give me the same offer I was on as a new customer for another 12
months.

As I'm getting the starter TV free and the broadband with a £5 discount,
that's not too bad. I certainly wouldn't pay for cable TV, satellite TV
is far better.

I don't have any phoneline, I use VoIP through an ATA.
