I have a number of PC's all running either XP or W2k connected via 3COM hubs
to a Draytek USB ADSL router, which in turn is connected via the BT frog to
the internet. I wish to add some Wireless access points to the 3com hubs for
futher PC's fitted with wireless pci cards. Can anyone recommend a good
Wireless access point for this configuration or maybe just a good Wireless
access point.

Thanks for your help

the DLINK DWL-900AP+ is _excellent_. It can be filter, it can repeat, it
can do 256bit wep ( well, depends , it can log to a remotebox, has
interchangeable antenna, etc. I love this AP.

I use the Belkin F5D6130; 802.11b is fine for ADSL rates. Very good reviews,
strong signal, minimal configuration, works great with XP. Just plug into your
ethernet LAN port on the hub, install software, configure. Available for $39.99
refurbished, directly from Belkin, lifetime warrantee.

You could replace all the kit with just one Draytek Vigor 2600We,
and sell it...

Hmmm. Now that's a pretty good idea. A little thinking outside the box.
Ditch the Modem, Router and Hub and just get the 2600We. I'm tempted however
I'm not interested in Networking or learning more than I absolutely have to,
to get my kit talking to each other and Draytek products really are a bit
technically demanding and their manuals are written in Taiwanese, translated
to Sanskrit and then onto English. Do you know if this product can be easily
set up by someone who is level one proficient in DHCP /networking etc.. or
whether I would need to start buying networking books which lets face it are
not the worlds most riveting reads. Have you set one of these up?

I didn't know anything about networking wifi or otherwise.
Admittedly I learned quite bit trying to get a Netgear modem / wifi to work
for almost a week,
turned out to be duff kit, so I returned it.
Bought the Draytek Vigor 2600We and was up and running in 10 mins.
Got it working on fixed IP to start with, because I didn't realise I had to
set up the gateway IP manually before the DHCP would work.
It took me another 10 mins to set up all the security stuff.
Haven't touched it since May installation.
Regards,
Martin

Can the DWL-900AP+ work in bridging mode to another DWL-900AP+ with
external outdoor antenna (let say with the high gain Yagi ANT24-1801)?
Can it still achieve the 22Mbps as claimed by their website? Anyone
has try it? Thanks in advance.

Rgds,

Mr Magoo
