Doesn't say whether it filters out those access points that also have
WEP/VPN/LEAP/802.1x/MAC security enabled!



I just think that you might just as well boot up the laptop anyway, if
you use standby or hibernate it's not exactly a long wait to find out
and you'll have much better tools available.

Maybe but it's flawed. If you find what appears to be a signal but one
that wasn't any use, were you any better off? You've still taken it out
of the case, powered it up (wasted battery) all to discover that the AP
is unavailable after all. If that's the case you're better off with a
PDA and wireless which although more expensive will do other stuff as
well.

In reality, it's a great gizmo to sell to uninformed execs who have no
clue as to why they can't connect. Sell a tool that says "Hey, use
wireless here" when in reality for a multitude of reasons - you can't.
