Any Newnet users having problems with website access?

I have a problem that started last Thursday. I can't login to my hosting
CPanel because I get a 401 error:

"Access Denied
The server was configured to not permit you access to the specified
resource. If you believe this is in error or inadvertent, please contact
the system administrator and ask them to update the host access files."

I have contacted the hosts who said they can find nothing wrong and that
they haven't blocked anything that could cause the error.

If I use a dialup modem with a different ISP or go through a public proxy
server, I can log in okay which leads me to think that the problem is with
Newnet. I have a support ticket outstanding but they claim they can't find
anything wrong either.

I have also tried using a USB broadband modem instead of my router with a
different PC in case that was the problem but still get the error.

At the weekend I got an error when I tried to log into a forum that I use
regularly to say that I need to contact the site administrator and be added
to their whitelist.

I am not a heavy broadband user (under 2GB a month) and don't send many
emails - only about 10 a week so hopefully it isn't me that has been
blacklisted somewhere.

A traceroute times out after the Newnet server.

Was just wondering if any one else is having a similar problem that uses
Newnet or if anyone has any suggestions of where the problem could be.

Thanks
Tony

I seem to get random problems where it doesn't accept my user id or
password. I sure I'm typing them correctly.

Today I can't get into my email either through webmail (cpanel) or
using my email client. I've contacted support a lot today and the
issue is still unresolved.
It worked this morning then I logged out and the next time I tried
logging in I couldn't. They reset my password and that got me in to
cpanel but not to webmail. I get ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP
server.

I don't know what's going on.

Internet connection fine for me. Some sites are a bit slow to load but
Thinkbroadband.com is giving a 5.8Meg download speed so I guess it is a
bit of congestion somewhere.
I have finally given up on the news server and am now using
individual.net but then again ng is not advertised as part of the
package so I am just happy to have a connection that practically never
goes down.
I use thunderbird for email and never have any problems with either my
Newnet mail account or with yahoo.co.uk

Hi, your host just like us may be using hosts.deny to stop
unauthorized IP's attempting to ssh to their server, it appears to be
clashing with cpanel version 11

I just had a client complain and did some testing and was able to
provide him with cpanel and webmail access after adding his IP to the
hosts.allow file, its either that or disable these settings

#ALL: PARANOID
#sshd: ALL

the hosts.deny file in the server

Best of luck.
