If your readings are accurate, then you should be able to handle 1Mb.
It's a big IF though. I've had two routers give 29db and 40db
anntenuation - within 5 mins of each other. I have a 2Mb connection,
with between 29 and 40 db annenuation, (depending on which router you
believe!) and snr of around 26 (both routers report similar values).
Around a year ago, the BT checker said I could get 2 meg, no problem
(and I've had no problems), but now for some reason, the same checker
says, I cannot get 2 meg, and MIGHT be able to get 1. Very strange
indeed. You would think they would check what speed I am actually on....
Back to the point in hand. Most ISPs would be reluctant to upgrade you,
because if it doesn't work, then they have to raise a fault with BT
Wholesale to get it sorted. Which costs them money. What you could
perhaps try, is ask your ISP (has to be your own ISP) to do a One Shot
Check - a BT Wholesale tool that gives anntenuation figures, amongst
other things. Say to them, that if the OSC shows anntenation below 60db,
then this would show your line is suitable for 1 meg. The figure is
coming from BT - not your own router - so in you ISP's eyes, this might
be more accepable than you just telling them what your router says.
Might be a complete waste of time however - depending on who you speak
to!
Good luck
