Hi,

I'm a little confused about antenna types, what is the difference between
Yagi antenna, omni-directional antenna, directional antenna, parabolic,
cantenna ??

Imagine that I want to share internet in a small village, what type of
antenna does I need ?

thanks

Directional antenna transmits/receives it's signals to/from one direction - good
for distance and interference rejection (if the interference is from a different
direction to what your interested in).

Omni-Directional antenna transmits/receives it's signals to/from any direction
on the horizon - good for general all round coverage, but limited in distance
and interference rejection.

Iso-Tropic antenna transmits/receives it's signals to/from any direction at all
(up/down, left right, you name it) - very good for all round coverage, but very
limited in distance and interference rejection.

Direction antennas ...

1) Yagi - also known as a beam (outside TV type looking aerial).
2) Parabolic - also know as a dish (sat TV type looking aerial).
3) Cantenna (tube/baked bean type looking aerial).

Omni-directional antennas ...

1) Vertical wip (vertical lengths of sprung steel/wire).
2) Rubber duck (bendy thick vertical rubber coated coil of wire aerial).
3) Most other aerials that are kinda 'vertical' in nature - but a few aren't
Omni.

Depends where you are located with respect to the rest of the village. Now that
you know what the differences are, maybe you can make a judgement yourself ?

You can also use several AP's, each with a directional antenna, each one
covering a selected direction etc.
