Antenna question

Hi,

Bought an SMC 2840 ( i think) G router. Works great and has great range. My
friend about 5 houses down has signal outside his house, but not inside. So
I would like to replace the antennas? Is that the right solution? What do
you guys suggest? There is no line of sight between houses , but he gets
2mbps on the doorstep(pretty good). Will the antenna help?

Or should I get a signal booster etc??

Why not suggest to your friend that HE try a directional antenna? Better
yet, your friend could mount a D-Link DWL-G810 Xtreme G Wireless Bridge or
equivalent outside his house and connect it to his computer with an ethernet
cable.

You can put a directional antenna on your SMC, but that will reduce your
range in areas that you might not want to reduce range.
