Hi all,

When you join most BB Providers, they charge you £58.75 for activation which
is the charge from BT. My question is...Once your line has been activated
when you first sign -up, do you need to pay the £58.75 every time you move
providers or is it just the first time?

Each time if you do a "cease and reprovide" when changing provider.

The charge is likely to be different if you choose to "migrate" your
connection to a different ISP.

You may even find a new ISP offers migration for "free" as BT Wholesale have
reduced the price they charge to ISP's to £11 +VAT for this.

Regards
Sunil

For example, I believe that PlusNet are offering free migration to them from
other ISP's - but only if you sign up for a year. Not unreasonable, I guess!

Go with an ISP who pays the activation fee for you.

NO, you pay migration fee (goes to BT), which was £30, but is about to be
reduced, PlusNet (and others ?) will waive it.

The fee is std. and goes to BT. If the ISP includes it, they will charge
higher BB rental, which you CONTINUE to pay AFTER the usual 12mths contract
is up.
You are almost always better off paying up front. BTW the ISP's (PlusNet in
particular) want BT to reduced it.
Regards,
Martin
