Annoying Problem with Network Properties!

Each time I exit Network Properties with OK, even if I didn't change
anything, Windows asks to insert the CD-ROM and copies files that
already exisit.

This is really annoying!

I suspect this happened as a registry entry or file is damaged, but my
numerous efforts to find a solution were unsuccessful so far!

Help anybody?

BTW I saw this question appearin hundreds of times on the Net, which
means that a lot of people have this problem, however there were never
any solutions give, except of course the "Don't exit with OK - use
Cancel" advice, which is sound but not very profound?

well if you have space ..copy from the cd to your HD the win98 dir ...then
change "windows install dir" in the registry
....it will never ask for the disk again .... smae as running the install
from the HD...

OR you could just point it at the windows/system dir ..it will find the
files it needs most times

Thanks, but this is not the answer I'm looking for (I have done that
ages ago). The point is not inserting the disk, but the fact that
Network Properties copies files even if nothing was changed - files
that already exist!

I'm looking for a remedy to this!

In my experience ,everytime you change a network setting (of any kind) win95
wants to reinstall the same files..

I could find no resolution , so I just tell it to look in c:\windows\system
and it reloads the existing files...?? go figure
not a problem on 98 (only if you ADD things)

post the solution here if you find one! :>

That is DEFINITELY NOT TRUE!

I have a network of 5 PCs with WIN98 on all of them - only one of them
asks for the files, all the rest close the Network Properties dialog
on exit with OK without asking for the files if no change was done.
