I have a computer at home that was a surplus from an office, with Windows 98.
Whenever I use it, a popup keeps notifying me that I do not have an internet
connection (even though I don't want one), and asks me if I want to work
offline (I always click on "work offline"). This happens REPEATEDLY!!! It
looks like the computer had a broadband connection (the Ethernet port light
comes on a lot in back of the computer). Is there any way top disable this
popup? (also, is there ANY wireless chips or cards available for 98 so I can
network it with my DSL router, or does it have to be at least 98 SE?).

Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > "Choose
Settings... " area > select the "Never Dial a Connection" radio button.
