I am stumped!

I have had a wireless network running for a year now, but following a
major laptop refit, I seem to have been unable to set it up as before.
The hardware is all Belkin, and both the desktop and laptop are running
Windows XP HE, both with Service Pack 2 installed. The ADSL Internet
connection is via the desktop.

The desktop can access the laptop and the laptop can access the Internet
and also the desktops' printer, but even though file sharing has been
enabled, the laptop does not seem to be able to see the desktop files. I
am certain that the solution is very simple, but I am now in the hair
tearing mode.

Can anybody assist?

Thanks for that. I have done as you suggested, but still no joy. The
laptop has Windows XP SP2 firewall checked as active, and the desktop
has no problem in seeing its files.

The desktop also has Sygate installed, but since SP2 this has been
disabled.

Both machines have the Advanced TCP/IP settings as NetBIOS over TCP/IP
enabled.

I had the same problem before (both on SP2), turned off Sygate for the
trusted LAN and all went well. You may want to uninstall Sygate if thing
still doesn't want to work.

Recheck your shares, SP2 disables root access even if it had previously been
allowed, I went through the same saga,

I have removed Sygate from the desktop and rechecked all file sharing on
that machine is open, and still get the 'Access is Denied' message when
I attempt to read the desktop files from the laptop.
