You might consider updating your drivers. That's usually good for a few
hours of downtime.

What should I do? Both my wireless bridges show 0 BER, I
get 54 MBit connections pretty much all the time, response
time is indistinguishable from wire connect 100BaseTX.

Satisfied customers are a bad thing because they don't buy new toys.
What you need is a major dose of acronyms, buzzwords, and upgrades.
Buy the latest and greatest and you will surely have something to
complain about.
