Hi Everyone,
I was studying the calls such as getnetent, getnetbyaddr, getnetbyname,
setnetent, endnetent. Man pages say they refer a file /etc/networks.
But on my PC i'm not able to find this file. I am using Red Hat Linux
3.2.3-47, Linux version 2.4.21-27.0.2.NOEL
Can anyone help me in this issue.
Thanks,
Datha

Try /etc/sysconfig/networks

You just don't have an '/etc/networks' file. If your
'/etc/nsswitch.conf' file is configured to use one, you would use one if it
existed.

Close but no cigar. It's the file "/etc/sysconfig/network" and
"ifcfg-eth*" in "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/" for RH and
alike.

Are you positive? If you're sure, let me know what distribution and libc
version you are using. I haven't seen a linux distro without an
/etc/nsswitch.conf in ages.
