Greetings
Routers go down - this I do know. But I am wondering what an ISP does to
ensure that people can access the Websites they
host in the event that one does go down. I am using a hosting provider to
co-locate a box. I have a few Websites on it that I
host for people. About once a month we experience a brief outage that
usually lasts 15 - 45 minutes. The outage is always
caused by a router being down somewhere and it is always AT&T.
It is starting to get aggravating especially when the client can always
access every other Website but theirs.
I am trying to get some direct answers as well as making a decision to go
through the headache of choosing another
hosting company. That is going to be a big pain in the butt if I have to
move all these sites but I don't know what other
alternatives to take. I have never experienced this at other hosting
organizations, which makes me suspicious as to what
they should be doing to solve problems when a router goes down.
The hosting company is located in the Pacific Northwest and I am also
curious if they are too shut-off from the rest of the
world for there to be an alternative solution. All answers welcome and
thanks for your time.
