Having recently moved to using ADSL, last night I came home to find
/var full. pump (via syslogd) was writing copious kern.=debug
messages to multiple log files. I've now slapped syslog back into
line (somewhat), and now I want to find an alternative to pump that's
a little less stupid.
I've heard of dhcpcd, I see there's dhcp-client, dhcp3-client, and
udhcpc. Is there anything out there that describes the relative
merits of these things? Do all of these things display this sort of
behaviour? Is there a better solution to this than sending
kern.=debug to /dev/null?
This is for Debian Woody, not using pppoe. Thanks.
